Speed, strength and conditioning training is a year-round commitment. The term "injury prevention" is a misnomer because injuries will always occur in sports. "Injury reduction" is a much more accurate representation.
Athletes of all ages significantly reduce their risk of injury by focusing on a "complete" training program based on our "Foundation of Fundamentals" that incorporates nutrition, flexibility, mobility, work capacity, strength, explosive body movements and speed on a year-round basis.
Too often we see athletes gearing up for their season just one or two months prior to the start of their season. This is where the risk of injury is highest. Many athletes and sports programs work throughout their respective off-seasons throwing and catching baseballs and footballs or working on their swing but most never incorporate what we call the "Foundation of Fundamentals" into their training. The Connecticut Speed School implements methods that add joint mobility, muscle flexibility and overall strength to further reduce the probability of injury.
